It’s been a while since I’ve written anything personal. I go through my cycles where I either write or read. Lately, I’ve been listening to music and learning that way. Writing music is one goal I will never tire of. My other goal: being happy. I’m enrolling in a 4-month fast track program with www.HandsOnApproach.com massage school. The tuition is reasonable and they offer interest-free payments. I’ll be busy going to school 4-days a week (6-10:30 pm), but when I’m done, I’ll be able to share the gifts God gave me. I also plan on attending a yoga retreat after I receive my certification. I hope to find one that also offers certification. Not sure which branch I’d like to specialize in, but regardless, I’ll be certified. I give myself about 6 months to accomlish these two goals. After that, I hope to offer my knowledge one-on-one to those who don’t do well in a class setting (like me). Yoga should be one-on-one anyway. Showing just one person how to heal themself through yoga means one more happy person in the world.
Just purchased a bunch of cd’s. I haven’t received them all yet, but I have listened to the following three:
Escondida: Jolie Holland
Being There: Wilco
X and Y: Coldplay
Escondida is the best so far. Jolie is a multi-instrumentalist who writes some amazing compositions that combine the best of jazz, blues and folk. Some of her songs are haunting and they will leave an impression if you’re open to a woman’s point of view.
Being There is my first Wilco purchase. I’ve never heard anything from them and all I hear about is how great they are. Maybe I need to give this 2-cd set another whirl in the player, since nothing remains in my memory. Even the violin parts were mediocre and something I’ve heard at a bluegrass festival in Alaska.
X and Y just sucks. I listened to the first couple minutes of every song and I cringed everytime. The vocals are too whiney and the melodies don’t stick. It’s like they followed all of the pop formulas, but they forgot to put in the emotions. Even Kelly Clarkson has more emotion than the speed of sound.
The following cd’s I have yet to receive. I’m excited about anything from Bill Callahan, that man can croon to me anytime. Even his freaky knee bobbing action during his shows can’t take away from his handsomeness. The Garden State soundtrack should be really good. That movie is so cute, and I just saw it for the first time last week. Joanna Newsom was a recommendation, I can’t wait to hear what she sounds like. OK Computer I needed to add to my Radiohead collection. I have the Strung Out on OK Computer cd, an all-string tribute to the album. I figure I best get the real thing, now.
A River Ain’t Too Much To Love, Doctor Came at Dawn, Red Apple Falls: Smog
Garden State Soundtrack
The Milk-Eyed Mender: Joanna Newsom
OK Computer: Radiohead
My bitches are reading the Carter family book for our next meeting. I have to wait for the mail to deliver on this one, too.
